AVENGED SEVENFOLD Bassist To Miss German Shows After Welcoming Baby Son

AVENGED SEVENFOLD bassist Johnny Christ is skipping a couple of shows on the band's current European tour in order to be with his wife as they welcome a new baby.

Commented Johnny: "I wanted to share the news with you all that my wife and I recently added a new addition to the A7X family, Franklin James. Unfortunately, because of this exciting announcement, I have had to stay back and miss a couple of shows in one of my favorite countries, Germany. We have one of our amazing techs filling in so the shows can go on. I'll be catching back up with you guys in Berlin on February 15th. Can't wait to see you all. Thanks for everyone's support."

AVENGED SEVENFOLD filmed a music video for the song "God Damn" on February 8 in the Los Angeles area.

The band's last video was for the title track of the group's 2016 album "The Stage". Inspired by "The Lonely Goatherd" from "The Sound Of Music", the clip was said to be guitarist Zacky Vengeance's "personal pet project" for two months, working with acclaimed director Chris Hopewell, known primarily for his collaboration with RADIOHEAD.

In response to the atrocities and societal unrest we have seen across the world in 2016, Zacky used "The Stage" to "remind people that ultimately when you let history repeat itself then you're the puppets."

"The Stage" debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 album chart back in November following its surprise release. Co-produced by the band and Joe Barresi, the disc features eleven panoramic tracks tied together by an Artificial Intelligence theme. Inspired by the writings of Carl Sagan and Elon Musk, the album is the band's first thematic release. While the term "AI" conjures up images of robots and fantasy films, the band steers clear of a science fiction storyline. Instead, the album sees them taking a futurist's look at the accelerated rate at which technology's intelligence is expanding and what that means — good and bad — for the future.

The group made "The Stage" available at midnight on October 27 with almost no promotion beforehand, save for the arrival of a new song one week earlier.
